Bulls will be seeing Reds in Super Rugby showdown

THE Queensland Reds and Bulls are both licking their wounds after poor performances at the weekend, but are keen to inflict more pain on each other at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.

The Queenslanders are hurting after their shock 19-12 home loss against the previously winless Western Force, a defeat that ended a three-game winning streak, while the Bulls were hammered 41-19 by the Crusaders in Christchurch.

Reds captain James Horwill is in line to make his long-awaited return after recovering from the ankle he twisted at training prior to the opening-round, while suspended winger Digby Ioane will be back.

Reds director of coaching Ewen McKenzie said it was looking pretty likely that Horwill would play.

"They (the Bulls) have a huge pack, so it would be timely if James played," he said.

Meanwhile, the South Africans were dealt a triple blow after their thrashing, losing the services of Wynand Olivier, Francois Hougaard and Akona Ndungane to injury.

The trio headed home yesterday while Francois Venter, Ruan Snyman and Bjorn Basson headed in the opposite direction as replacements.
