Brumbies hold on against Rebels

THE Brumbies made sure the Reds made no ground on their lead at the top of the Australian conference following a tough 27-19 victory over Melbourne Rebels at AAMI Park.

The Reds will remain five points adrift of the Brumbies, who bounced back from last weekend's 13-12 loss to the defending champions to post a two-tries-to-one win over the Rebels.

Andrew Smith and Robbie Coleman recorded tries for the visitors, while Cooper Vuna continued his solid scoring form with the Rebels' lone five-pointer.

Brumbies hooker Stephen Moore conceded the bonus point would have been handy, but they were still pleased to walk away with the win.

"We would have liked five points but we knew Melbourne were going to be hard they're always good at home," he told Grandstand.
