Breaking Bad writer Vince Gilligan lands Down Under

HE PENNED the cult television series Breaking Bad and now Vince Gilligan has arrived in Australia to share his talent with budding writers.

Touching down in Sydney on Wednesday, the man who made the world fall in love with terminally ill chemistry teacher turned meth-cook Walter White, visited the Opera House ahead of his appearance at the Sydney Writer's Festival.

Before creating Breaking Bad, Mr Gilligan tested his skills on various hit shows including the X-Files.

He will be joined at the festival by internationally acclaimed African-American author Alice Walker, whose Pulitzer Prize winning novel The Color Purple was turned into a Hollywood film.
