Bra drug smuggler guilty

A WOMAN who took part in smuggling a bottle of pills out of her bra and into a male prisoner's pants in front of prison officers has been sentenced to a six-month intensive corrections order.

Katrina Leanne Luhrs, who has fronted Gladstone Magistrates Court 14 times since 1999, pleaded guilty in the Rockhampton Supreme Court on Tuesday to one count of supplying a dangerous drug to a person in a correctional facility and one count of possessing a dangerous drug.

Crown prosecutor Michael Cowen told the court Ms Luhrs, 38, was visiting an inmate of Borallon Correctional Facility in Ironbark on April 19, 2010, when the incident happened.

In an interview with police, Ms Luhrs told police she had transferred the plastic jar of pills out of her bag because it was too full and had placed the jar in her bra.

The court heard Ms Luhrs and the prisoner went to kiss in front of the correctional officers and he removed the jar and placed it down the front of his pants.
