Boult bowls Black Caps to victory to seal ODI series win

CRICKET: Australia has conceded the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy to New Zealand in another tight finish, with Trent Boult and Ross Taylor outshining their trans-Tasman rivals.

Despite losing regular wickets, Australia was continually in the chase for the target of 282 before Boult's six-wicket haul proved too much and the home side prevailed by 24 runs in Hamilton to seal a 2-0 series win.

Earlier, Taylor hit a classy century and put on a vital 100-run partnership with Dean Brownlie to set up New Zealand's total of 9-281 in the series-deciding third one-day match.

Taylor hit a superb 107 from 101 balls, including 13 boundaries, before becoming one of James Faulkner's three victims.

Mitchell Starc also finished with three wickets - including two in the final over, which had him on a hat-trick.

Starc gave Australia hope with an unbeaten 29, but he ran out of partners as Boult shredded the tourists.

The world's No.1-ranked bowler in ODIs finished with 6-33 from his 10 overs to send the packed crowd at Seddon Park home happy.
