State of Origin III: How we rated Queensland players

Billy Slater 9

This old dog produced some new tricks. Very good under the high ball and great footwork to score a crucial try.

Darius Boyd 8

Helped out his forwards with 64m in the first half, and continued in the second half with a nice finish and try in the corner.

Justin Hodges 6 ½

Provided the Maroons with his usual mongrel and tough ball carries out wide.

Greg Inglis 6 ½

Looked extremely dangerous at times, and only held out by some desperate Blues defence when held up over the line in the first half.

Will Chambers 7

Knocked out in the 33rd minute by Josh Reynolds, but terrific courage to come back on the field just over five minutes later. Solid under the high ball after being tested early in his Origin debut.

Johnathan Thurston 8

Brilliant ball for Boyd try in left corner in 71st minute. Where have we seen that before?

Cooper Cronk 8

Solid work organising the team around the paddock in a courageous return from a broken arm, and was rewarded with a late try.

Jacob Lillyman 6 ½

Didn't bend the line like Matt Scott is capable of when Scott is at his running best, but didn't do anything wrong either in a strong effort.

Cameron Smith (capt) 8

Tackled his heart out once again and very strong in attack, picking up a first-half try for his effort.

Nate Myles 8

Stood up to Paul Gallen and compay once again, and dished out some of his own grunt in defence.

Aidan Guerra 7

Missed Blues fullback Jarryd Hayne a few times in the first quarter of the game, but strong with the ball and improved as the game went on.

Sam Thaiday 8

Typical power game - hard running all night.

Corey Parker 8

Had his tender eye socket massaged early, but let his footy do the talking with some great offloads and a high involvement in attack and defence.

Interchange:

Daly Cherry-Evans 8

Tremendous energy after coming on late in the first half, setting up a try with a line break and kick inside for Cameron Smith try. Gives Queensland a new dimension off the bench.

Ben Te'o 7

Good energy and involvement after coming on midway through the first half, and very worthy of the Origin arena.

Matt Gillett 5 ½

Forced to defend on Chambers' wing after he left the field, and tidied up more than once around the paddock.

David Taylor 5

Big instant impact after coming on in 51st minute, but at his enigmatic best with two knock-ons.
