Big trek to raise funds to fight women's cancers

MICHELLE Hay needs the help of locals to participate in The Weekend to End Women's Cancers trek.

Ms Hay, USQ Fraser Coast's faculty of business and law co-ordinator and executive officer, is preparing for the 60km trek for charity through Brisbane's suburbs.

But to participate, she needs to raise $2000.

The Weekend to End Women's Cancers is a two-day walk through Brisbane's various neighbourhoods on the weekend of October 26 and 27.

Ms Hay said funds raised would power life-saving cancer research programs and clinical trials.

"My commitment to this event is based on love for my fellow sisters, mothers, grandmas, daughters, nieces, and friends everywhere," she said.

"It's based on the realisation that we each need to do our part in this fight.

"I can and choose to be a part of this movement to take down women's cancers."

On average four Australian women will die from cancer every day.
