Big Brother house becomes the dog house: meet Ned and Kelly

THE latest duo to enter the Big Brother house is made up of two young pups, literally.

Poodles Ned and Kelly bounded into the Big Brother house tonight, much to the surprise of the 16 human housemates who have been living in isolation from the wider world for a week and a half.

Three-year-old miniature poodle Ned and six-month-old standard poodle Kelly are from the Animal Welfare League Queensland's Gold Coast re-homing centre, the same facility which supplied dogs Delilah and Mr Clooney for previous seasons of the show.

The two dogs have only known life together, having been surrendered to the AWL as a pair, and they dislike being separated.

AWLQ Communications Manager Brooke Whitney said she looks forward to watching the poodles become part of the 2014 Big Brother family.

"This is the third year AWLQ has been asked to support Big Brother by finding the housemates the perfect pet," Ms Whitney said.

"We wanted to show Big Brother viewers that you can find all sorts of breeds in shelters, and that there is really no reason to look elsewhere when searching for a new family pet.

"They are very sweet dogs and are sure to bring out the very best in the housemates."

The housemates will take part in their first nomination ceremony tomorrow night and the first live eviction from the Big Brother house will take place on Tuesday.
