Better Homes and Garden coming to Ballina this weekend

MULTI-AWARD winning lifestyle show Better Homes and Gardens will be making Ballina its base this weekend, with locals invited to come and take part of filming at Bunnings Warehouse.

Last week the show was watched by 1.5 million people and was ranked the 14th most-watched show of the week.

The show's vet, Dr Harry Cooper, will be visiting a "problem pet" in Ballina, while horticulturalist Graham Ross scopes out and showcases an amazing local garden.

Home decorator Tara Dennis and landscaper Jason Hodges will battle it out for the best outdoor room renovation, while chefs Fast Ed and Karen Martini have a "prawn cook-off" under Ballina's Big Prawn.

DIY expert Rob Palmer will be getting up early to surf with some locals before building a surfboard rack, and a DIY putt-putt golf course open to kids on Sunday morning.

Better Homes and Gardens host Johanna Griggs will be looking after the kids' footprint cementing and tying the show together.

Ms Griggs said the whole team was looking forward to their weekend of filming in Ballina.

"It was a toss-up between Ballina and a Victorian one and the whole team was just begging that it would actually be in Ballina," she said.

Ms Griggs said the overarching theme of the episode would be about showcasing the area.

"It's trying to capture that beautiful 'laxed, laid-back coastal attitude that Ballina is renowned for Australia wide," she said.

Ms Griggs said the show would be a good opportunity for fans to meet the team and see what goes on behind the scenes.

The one-and-a-half hour show will air on Sunday, October 3.
