Ben Te'o likely for Origin squad despite assault claims

QUEENSLAND rugby league selectors will be given the green light to pick Ben Te'o in the State of Origin squad as the South Sydney forward continues to weather assault allegations.

Katie Lewis has accused the backrower of hitting her during a scuffle at the home of Brisbane Broncos fullback Corey Norman last month. Another Queensland player, Darius Boyd, was also alleged to be present.

Te'o has denied any wrongdoing and no complaint has been lodged with police. But that could yet change, with Nine reporting last night that Lewis may reconsider and make a formal complaint next week.

That would leave it in the hands of police to decide to press charges.

As it stands, Te'o will play for the Rabbitohs on Monday night against the Sharks just minutes after the Queensland side is unveiled at Suncorp Stadium.
