Nice guys don't get girls

BEING the ‘nice’ guy isn’t what it seems to be in the dating scene, according to Gladstone single Bradley ‘Baz’ Hood.

The 26-year-old moved to Gladstone four years ago and while he’s been on a few dates, he’s struggled to find a ‘match’.

He said there was not a ‘lack’ of girls in Gladstone.

Working two jobs, four nights a week as a bar manager at Bojangles nightclub and full time at Blakers Pumps and Engineering Services, doesn’t leave much spare time, but Baz says his working hours are not the problem.

“I still find time to go out and have fun,” he said.

Baz said one of the problems was working out which girls were attached and which were not.

He said some girls just weren’t forthcoming about their status, but were still happy to chat and flirt a little even when they had a boyfriend.

Baz said another problem was that most girls had a particular type of guy that they liked, and a lot of the time it was the ‘nice’ guy he’d been dubbed.

“The excuse I get a lot of the time is that I’m a really nice guy but…” he said.

Baz said a lot of the time, he’s ended up just staying friends with the girls he’s been on dates with.

Plus, he says, there seems to be a social status environment in the region.

“If the girl doesn’t already know who you are, they don’t want to talk to you. There are also a lot of stuck up girls in this town, but there are a lot of nice ones too.”

Despite being part of the gadget age group, Baz said he hadn’t tried online dating yet and didn’t have any immediate plans to do so.

He said he was happy just waiting to see what happened in the future.

Baz said he was looking for a girl who had a great personality, wasn’t shy around other people, didn’t get jealous of other girls who were his friends, was bubbly and liked to live life to the fullest.

“I don’t like the girls that have to be ‘made up’ all the time. But I do like the girls that do put the effort in to look good when they go out.”

He admitted he had a preference for petite brunettes, but at the end of the day, it was not all about looks.

Baz described himself as a fun, outgoing, funny guy who liked to dress nicely, and plan the dates with a touch of romance so the date was all about ‘them’ and not just going out for dinner.
