THERE'S nothing like enjoying the great outdoors in Queensland.
And there's no shortage of locations to try out if the results of a new survey are anything to go by.
Beer company Great Northern scoured the state in search of the ultimate outdoor destinations for its new advertising campaign.
A number of the top hot spots have now been chosen to feature in the multimillion dollar campaign on more than 150 billboards across the state.
Great Northern Marketing Manager Mick McKeown said his team went from town to town, interviewing hundreds of people to source the best local knowledge.
"We didn't want to just photograph the best tourist destinations across Queensland, we wanted the best outdoor hotspots favoured by locals," Mr McKeown said.
"We were overwhelmed with the response from them who in return for a couple of cold ones were very willing to share their top fishing, camping and four-wheel-driving spots with us.
William Cahalon and best mate Craig Ardern who work at Tangalooma Island Resort couldn't believe their luck when they were asked to be in the ad at Moreton Island.
"It's awesome being in a beer commercial," Mr Cahalon said.
"I can't wait to get a photo in front of our photo on the billboard."
Their other mate James Pinter said Moreton Island is the real star in the ads.
"Surf, sand and sun, Moreton Island has everything you could ever want," Mr Pinter said.
"I visited Moreton Island every year as a kid and couldn't stop coming back so I moved here 16 years ago.
Queensland Tourism Industry Council Chief Executive Daniel Gschwind said advertising campaigns from the commercial sector could have big effects on the promotion of Queensland's destinations.
"Many businesses are investing in Queensland to showcase our major events, the natural beauty of our vast landscapes and our regional communities," Mr Gschwind said.
"The tourism industry in Queensland contributes $22 billion to the state's economy and employs 235,000 people. Investment from private companies supporting the growth of this crucial Queensland sector is a bonus for the industry."
Mr McKeown said Great Northern would continue investing in Queensland over the coming years.
"Great Northern has been a major hit in Queensland and we anticipate this advertising campaign, will help drive sales even further," he said.
