The beastly 2004 Lamborghini Murcielago

FOR this weeks blog, I will be featuring this tastefully modified 2004 Lamborghini Murcielago.

The Murcielago was first released way back in 2001 and boy did it cause some controversy.

This was the first Lambo built under the ownership of Audi, and everyone was expecting the car to be tamed-down and not very exciting... but they were wrong.

Not only does it look great and feature a monster of an engine, but the build quality and technology is much better than the previous generations.

Now back to the engine. This beast features a mid-rear mounted 6.2-litre 12-cylinder engine which can produce up to 426kW (571 hp) at 7500rpm and 649Nm of torque (479 lb-ft of torque) at 5400rpm.

It all started with Lamborghini's first sports car, the 350GT and its 3.5-litre V12 engine.

It was later then used in all of Lamborghini's V12 vehicles up until 2010 when the Murcielago ended production with the LP670-4 SV.

When the engine was used in the 350GT, it could put out 201 kilowatts (270 hp), but when it was last in the Murcielago LP670-4 SV it had major modifications and improvements so it could produce up to 500 kilowatts (670 hp). This means that Lamborghini upped the horsepower of the same engine by 400.

Connected to the engine is a rare 6-speed manual transmission, which then sends the power to all-four wheels. This particular model also has a kerb weight of 1650 kilograms.

Thanks to its all-wheel drive, the '04 Murcielago is able to launch from 0-100 kilometres per hour in just 3.8 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 332 kilometres per hour (206 miles per hour).

Some other features that this Lambo is equipped with includes custom wheels and tires, LP 640 upgrades (front bumper, exhaust etc.), double-wishbone front and rear suspension, four-wheel ABS as well as traction control, xenon headlights, electronic brake force distribution, yellow brake calipers, a yellow diamond stitched leather interior and much more.

You can currently buy a 2004 Lamborghini Murcielago for about $230,000 AUD.
