Bayern striker Mueller ready to subdue Borussia Dortmund

THOMAS Mueller has lost in two Champions League finals with Bayern Munich.

The German striker is leaving nothing to chance this time round as he looks to end that losing streak at Wembley Stadium on Sunday morning (AEST) when his team takes on fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

Mueller was part of the Bayern team which lost to Italian giants Inter Milan in the 2010 final and also was left downcast after Chelsea beat the German champions in last year's final.

But he is determined this year it will be third time lucky.

Earlier this week he stayed behind after training to practise penalty kicks.

He took about 50 or 60, just in case Sunday's final goes down to a dreaded shootout.

"It can't hurt," he told FCB.tv.

"For me personally, it's about time I won the thing," he said.

"If you're beaten three times, you're branded a loser."

Bayern has been boosted by the news that Dortmund playmaker Mario Gotze - who will ironically move to Munich in the off-season - will miss the final with a hamstring injury.
