Bayern star rejected world record offer, says agent

BAYERN Munich frontman Robert Lewandowski has turned down a move to the Chinese Super League, says his agent.

The Polish striker, 28, was reportedly offered a higher salary than the world record one handed to 32-year-old Argentine Carlos Tevez last month.

The proposed $275 million move was to an unnamed Chinese club.

Lewandowski's agent, Cezary Kucharski, told SportoweFakty: "I was contacted by an agent who brings stars to China. The club name wasn't mentioned. If Lewy had decided to move to China, his salary would have been significantly higher than 40 million euros ($58 million), which means more than Carlos Tevez earns.

"It's obvious: Lewy is not only younger but also a better player than Tevez. Robert is not for sale right now, but I never say never. Life offers several solutions.”

Lewandowski recently signed a new deal with the Bundesliga champion but Bayern teammate Arjen Robben said he would consider a move to the Chinese Super League or MLS at the end of the season.

The Dutch star also said there was a possibility he would stay with the German giant.

"Everyone has to personally assess this,” Robben said.

"You must never say that this is not an option. But also do not say that you want to go.

"I am now at Bayern. Of course, I plan a little, I talk to my wife. I am now at the top level. You must see what comes next.

"My family comes first, but the life experience, living elsewhere - in the USA, in China - might come. But maybe not. Maybe I'll go back home (to the Netherlands). I do not rule out anything.”
