Barca slams seven past Celtic

FOOTBALL: Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on Barcelona's star trio rather than slam his own team after a record 7-0 defeat at the Nou Camp.

It was the Bhoys' worst defeat in European competitions but Rodgers said the likes of Lionel Messi, who scored a hat-trick, Luis Suarez, who notched a double, and Neymar, who scored one goal and had four assists, had the ability to destroy any team.

"There can be no embarrassment because they do that to much better teams than ourselves,” said the Northern Irishman.

"Tonight is one of those tough nights that you take at this level. Of course it's never nice professionally.”

In other games, Arsenal drew 1-1 with Paris St Germain in the French capital thanks to a second-half equaliser from Alexis Sanchez.

Manchester City's game with Borussia Moenchengladbach was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at City's Etihad Stadium.

The game will be replayed tomorrow morning.
