Ballina on Richmond Physical Culture Club is still " going" and" growing" strong after 38 years.
Teachers Theresa Atkinson, Gaye McKenna and Rebecca Robbie are thrilled with the number of girls attending Physie in 2016 - "our club has grown to a record number of 75 this year from our Bright Stars - 3 yrs through to ladies of all ages.
Our philosophy is simple "empowering girls and ladies for life", encouraging girls and ladies of all abilities is what PHYSIE is all about and we as teachers pride ourselves in being able to achieve this.
A physie class fuses dance styles of jazz, contemporary, hip hop and aerobic dance in the one lesson. Our innovative choreography is upbeat, modern, fun, and great for all bodies!
Recently at the Far North Coast Zone Championships in Coffs Harbour, the club was thrilled to enter 2 junior teams and 2 Ladies teams with a large number of girl and ladies who also competed in individual championships.
In the team events no places but all team members of 8 girls/ladies perform the syllabus in synchronization together which builds confidence, friendships and above all they have FUN.
Ballina On Richmond Physie had success with Ladies by entering 24 ladies with some never competing before but gained wonderful success in performing at Zone level. Our placegetters where: Maddi Taylor- 1st place Novice Ladies, Kylie Irving - 4th place intermediate Ladies and in the top 30 National Finalists, Kate Richardson - 3rd Open Over 33 yrs Ladies and Gaye McKenna - 3rd Open Senior Ladies.
Continuing success with entering 24 juniors many brand new to physie with 5 making Junior Finals: Taylia Brown 7 yrs, Lara Zilm 12 yrs, Amelia Henry 14 yrs, Grace Hare and Avalon Kohlmetz - 1st yrs Senior at zone level and 2 Senior Girls attend National Semi Finals held at Homebush with Grace and Avalon who headed to Sydney recently for National Semi Finals and the opportunity to perform at the Opera House.
Ballina On Richmond Physie is now in recess until February 2017 and welcome all NEW and Returning members to join them in their 39th year of Physie!
