Bali flights cancelled amid volcanic ash threat

FLIGHTS between Australia and Bali have been cancelled, with volcanic ash from Mount Rinjani again sparking safety concerns.

Jetstar flights due into Sydney and Perth later today have been cancelled.

In a statement, the airline said it would confirm the status of more flights by 9:00am.

"Our pilots and meteorologists will assess the latest information from the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre early Tuesday morning and make a decision about flights scheduled for the rest of the day," it said.

Yesterday, Virgin flights from Sydney and Brisbane had to be turned around.

Tigerair flights from Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide were cancelled, as were three flights from Denpasar.
