Aussies doubling their Halloween tweets

THE one night of the year where it is acceptable to cover your face in scary paint, wear an unusual costume in public, perform tricks and consume copious amounts of lollies and chocolate is evidently Halloween - one of America's favourite festive holidays - but how popular is Halloween in Australia?

As Halloween quickly crept up on us, @TwitterAU analysed just how popular Halloween is becoming in Australia - revealing that over the past 30 days, there have been a massive 100,000 Tweets in Australia mentioning Halloween/ #Halloween.

Whether it be the desire to dress up in frightening masks and costumes, or the pure interest in sharing the spirit on social media globally, the conversation around Halloween almost doubled from 2012 to 2013, then from 2013- 2014 it went up 50%.

For some more shocks and surprises during the Halloween period, to date this year, @TwitterAU has seen half of last year's October's total - and it's not even Halloween yet - which would of course the biggest day for sharing on the platform.
