Aussie punter wins $80K on Trump result

AN Australian punter has won $80,000 after placing a huge bet backing Donald Trump to become the next President of the United States.

While many people jumped on the Trump bandwagon in the past 24 hours - his odds shifted from a long $4.50 to favourite as the election results began to roll in - there were some who forecast this result a long way out.

None more so than one Australian woman who put a whopping $10,000 on Trump with on November 8.

To place that bet in context that was well before the first primary was held in Iowa on February 1 and when the likes of Ted Cruz, John Kasich, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson, Jeb Bush, Rand Paul, Chris Christie and Mike Huckabee were still in the race to become the Republican nominee.

It would have been one hell of a ride for this punter, but her loyalty to the President elect Trump has paid off in droves and she is now $80,000 richer.
