AUSTRALIA opener David Warner is known for his aggression on the cricket field, and he is quickly becoming known for the same off the pitch.

Warner was a notable omission from last night's Champions Trophy clash against New Zealand at Edgbaston, with reports emerging he allegedly punched England batsman Joe Root, while out drinking.

The 26-year-old was reported for breaching Rule 6: Unbecoming Behaviour, in the early hours of Sunday morning after Australia's one-dayer against England.

Warner was fined $5750 last month for an expletive-laden Twitter rant, reports emerging he regularly drank alcohol in the recent IPL tournament in India.
