Attempted plane hijacking sees 23 killed

AT least 23 people have been killed and dozens injured after gunmen disguised as police guards stormed Pakistan's largest airport in Karachi in an attempt to hijack a plane.

The 10 terrorists responsible for the six-hour siege at the Jinnah International Airport on Sunday evening were killed.

A Pakistan military spokesman told Sky News Australia weapons, live ammunition, including RPGs, were recovered from the terrorists.

No group has claimed responsibility for the Mumbai-style attack, but there are fears the siege is linked to the Taliban.
