Attempted child abduction

A TEENAGE schoolgirl has told police she was the victim of an abduction attempt, committed by two men in Coffs Harbour.

The shocking incident at Park Beach around 8am was reported by school staff and came just a day after police issued a warning to parents that predators are lurking, following several other approaches on children this week.

Police said the 13-year-old was walking on Park Beach Rd when two males called to her from across the road.

The girl told police she ignored them and continued walking, but a short time later they crossed the road and approached her from behind taking her to a nearby bush track.

An unknown man who was walking on a gravel track saw the men with the girl and intervened, allowing the teenager to run off.

The first man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, under 180cm tall, very skinny build, aged in his late 20s to 30s, with short brown cropped hair, and a black tattoo pattern over his right shoulder blade.

The man smelled strongly of alcohol and cigarettes and was last seen wearing board shorts and a grey tank singlet.

The second man is described as being of chubby build and wearing a dark T-shirt.

Investigators would also like to speak with the man who was walking on the bush track from the western end of Boultwood St towards Park Beach Road and intervened in the incident.

The incident came a day after police released details on two other approaches on teenagers in the city on Wednesday.

Anyone with information surrounding the incidents or the identity or current whereabouts of the men described should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
