Asbestos dump near child care centre shocks community
A POTENTIALLY deadly asbestos dump near a Sydney primary school and child care centre has shocked police and parents.
Officers discovered the contaminated waste at Watson St, Belmore, in the city's southwest early Friday morning.
Firefighters and council workers were called in to remove the material.
It came a day after tradesman walked off plumbing job at Sydney's Harbour Bridge amid concerns two young apprentices had been exposed to asbestos.
Police have urged anyone with information about the Belmore dump to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
