Arrests in genital mutilation case
FOUR women accused of watching on as two little girls were subjected to genital mutilation have been arrested in Sydney.
A Muslim sheik and nurse allegedly mutilated both girls, aged 6 and 7, in a private ceremony in Sydney's west.
They were arrested along with the girl's parents earlier this month.
Police arrested four more women, aged 39, 68, 73 and 79, on Wednesday and charged them with prohibition of female genital mutilation.
It is alleged all were present during the procedure.
Detectives are continuing to work with DOCS and NSW Health and expect to make further arrests.
