Traffic changes for Kerr Street
TEMPORARY traffic changes have been put in place in Ballina by the Roads and Traffic Authority with the aim of improving safety and reduce the impact of traffic congestion on the Pacific Highway during the holiday period.
To help reduce congestion at the Kerr Street traffic lights, the right-turn lane into Ballina Fair and the right-turn lane into Ballina Central will not be permitted.
The changes were introduced last week, on December 22.
They will stay in place until December 31, and again be put in place on January 2.
After that, it's back to normal.
In previous years, the Pacific Highway in Ballina has experienced traffic delays and increased traffic volumes over the Christmas-New Year period.
Motorists are advised to use the following diversions: to access Ballina Central shopping centre, northbound traffic can turn right at the Fox Street roundabout or Bangalow Road roundabout; to access Ballina Fair shopping centre, southbound traffic can turn right at the Fox Street round- about.
