Running season over

THE LAST run for the winter season was a scratch start held on September 10.

An average of 130 athletes faced the gun each Sunday morning competing in the 1km, 3km or 6km distances from Shelly Beach and following courses through the Angels Beach sand dunes, the rainforest of Flat Rock and the gruelling climb over Black Head.

Over the season many of the club's members have also participated in various triathlons, marathons and half marathons, City to Surf and the juniors have represented their respective schools in regional and State cross country titles.

Sunday's run was followed by a family barbecue and season trophy presentations with the Club Person's Trophy being won by Timekeeper Peter Stephenson and the 'Black Head Hill Climb' was taken out by Raz Burtonwood.

Track and Field Summer Season begins on Wednesday October 18, 4.30pm at Ballina High School oval.

All ages and abilities are catered for and new members are most welcome.
