Council funds NYE party

ALSTONVILLE Apex has welcomed funding of $14,000 from the Ballina Shire Council for the annual alcohol-free New Year's Eve family festival to be held at Alstonville Showgrounds.

The festival starting at 5pm and finishing 10.30pm will include fireworks at 9.15pm.

President of Alstonville Apex Club, Richard Lutze, says the evening will focus on family fun.

"Entertainment includes children's rides, food, treasure hunts, talent quest, Father Mac's Heavenly Pudding eating competition and much, much more," he said.

"We appreciate Ballina council again providing funding for this very popular event.

"The council has recognised the community desire for a family event on New Year's Eve."

The event is alcohol-free and bags will be checked on entry.
