Anti-immigration extremist arrested in Melbourne police raid

A RIGHT-wing anti-immigration extremist has reportedly been arrested in counter-terrorism raids in Melbourne.

The Age reports Phillip Galea, who is a member of Reclaim Australia and was at least previously a member of  United Patriots Front, was arrested at a property in Braybrook on Saturday afternoon.

The 31-year-old was reported to be the only man arrested.

Mr Galea's house was also raided in 2015.

At a press conference held with local media, police would not confirm the identity of the man arrested as Galea.

Officers told reporters the man arrested represented an escalating threat. 

The home was one of four raided by Victorian counter-terrorism and special operations officers on Saturday.
