AFL star Lou Richards has died age 94
THE AFL has lost one of its greatest characters, with Collingwood great and star broadcaster Lou Richards passing away on Monday afternoon.
Richards, who played 250 games for the Magpies and captained the club to its 1953 premiership, died at the age of 94.
Richards had a terrific career for the Magpies then became an instant media star post his playing career.
As well as being a famous play-by-play commentator, Richards became a star for Channel 9 and its Sunday Footy Show.
Tributes immediately rolled in for the beloved personality.
My mate, my mentor my marvel Louis Thomas Charles Richards is dead. From my cadet days at The Phoenix Hotel, his two up games, I loved him.

Sad to hear about Lou Richards. Arguably the most loved footy person I can remember.
