Brisbane's Lewis Taylor takes out AFL's Rising Star award

LEWIS Taylor has become the fourth Brisbane player to win the AFL's Rising Star award, edging out Western Bulldogs forward Marcus Bontempelli by a singe vote.

Of the 22 weekly winners, 10 polled votes, with Taylor securing 30, Bontempelli 29 and North Melbourne defender Luke McDonald 32.

Taylor was selected at pick No.28 in last year's national draft. He played junior football for Terang-Mortlake in western Victoria, and for the Geelong Falcons.

He captained Vic Country in the 2013 national U18 championships, and was named in the All-Australian team.
