Viewers vote Adam and Lisa to House Rules victory

QUEENSLAND-born Lisa Lamond and her fiancé Adam Dovile are mortgage free after winning House Rules tonight.

The Melbourne couple's $540,000 mortgage will be wiped clean after they took out the renovation show's 2014 title in tonight's live grand final.

Despite scoring two points less than their competitors, Perth's Carole and Russell Bramston, the voting public pushed the duo across the line to victory.

The likable couple had plenty of support on social media, with "Go Adam and Lisa" in the top trends on Twitter.

"This means we can get married, start a family and, you know, our lives will be a little bit less stressful," Lamond said.

"Thank you to everyone who voted. This means the world to us."

It's a drastic turnaround for 29-year-old Lamond, who had no renovation experience when she applied for the show.

Lamond was born and raised in Brisbane and has extended family on the Sunshine Coast at Buderim and Mooloolaba.

The couple has plans to wed on the Coast in September, although their victory might alter their plans.

Dovile, a chippie and builder, thanked his fiancé for applying for the show without telling him.

"I didn't even know Lisa had applied to this show. I owe Lisa my life as far as I'm concerned," he said.

In the two-hour grand final, the two teams renovated one final room, a bar and outdoor spa area, in each other's homes.

Carole and Russell asked for six-star Balinese luxury, while Adam and Lisa asked for a touch of James Bond style.

House Rules has seen a surge in popularity this year, out-rating The Voice in recent weeks.
