Abbott's first year as PM left public "tasered": Xenophon

INDEPENDENT Senator Nick Xenophon has said the Abbott Government's first year in office has left the Australian people feeling "tasered".

He said on ABC TV on Sunday that the government's first year in power had led to "quite radical changes" that were not outlined before the election.

Sen Xenophon, one of eight key crossbenchers the government needs to pass legislation, said despite the government promising "no surprises", the electorate felt "more tasered than surprised by some of the changes".
