Valley mourns loss of June Causley

THE Clarence Valley is in mourning after the sudden passing of June Causley yesterday.

Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis led the condolences and said he was "deeply saddened" by the news.

Mrs Causley, wife of the former member for Clarence and Page, Ian Causley, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

"June was a remarkable lady and a person I held in very high esteem," Mr Gulaptis said.

"She was widely respected and admired in the community and will be remembered fondly."

Mr Gulaptis said Mrs Causley was a tremendous support to her husband during his extensive political career.

"She was his right-hand lady," he said.

"You didn't get one MP, you got two.

"June was always by his side at functions and often filled the role of MP when Ian was unable to attend."

Mr Gulaptis said Mrs Causley brought sensitivity, compassion, humour and dignity to the role of the member's wife.

"She had a high regard for the public service role that Ian held for over 20 years and she was by his side for that whole time," he said.

"She believed in his cause and what he was fighting for and was prepared to do all she could to help him in his role, and I know Ian is deeply grateful for that.

"June was also a mother and grandmother whose love and generosity never faltered.

"I know the community will join with me in offering our heartfelt condolences to Ian and his family on their loss."

The Daily Examiner will publish a full tribute to Mrs Causley's life in a future edition.
