Yankees grab Tanaka in massive spending spree

THE New York Yankees have taken their off-season spending spree to $A535 million after securing star Japanese pitcher Masahiro Tanaka on a seven-year, $176m contract.

The Yankees have also bought outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury and Carlos Beltran, and catcher Brian McCann.
