Trump disrespects fallen US soldier after DNC

THE father of a Muslim US soldier who died a hero in Iraq has drawn a sharp response from Donald Trump after accusing the Republican presidential nominee of sacrificing nothing and no one for America.

In an electrifying speech to the Democratic National Convention, Khizr Khan accused the billionaire of vilifying American Muslims and said all people of all faiths, genders and ethnicities had sacrificed for the US.

In turn, Mr Trump suggested Hillary Clinton's writers had penned the speech and he would have liked to have heard from Mr Khan's wife, Ghazala, who stood beside her husband during his address.

"She had nothing to say. She probably - maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say. You tell me," Mr Trump told ABC News America.

The Khans' son, Humayun, posthumously received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart after he died while trying to stop a suicide bomber outside a US camp near Baghdad.

Mr Trump told ABC he had made a lot of sacrifices.

"I work very, very hard. I've created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures," he said.

In an earlier interview on the NBC, Mrs Khan said she had asked her son to stay safe and not "do something stupid" while in Iraq.

"Don't become a hero for me, come back as my son," she said she told him.

After being attacked relentlessly during the Democratic convention, Mr Trump has declared there will "no more Mr Nice Guy" from him.
