Prisoner recaptured Christmas Eve

A NSW prisoner who had been on the run for more than a month was recaptured on Christmas Eve. 

Robert John Bamblett, 35, escaped on November 5 after he convinced prison guards to stop on the Newell Hwy near West Wyalong so he could go to the toilet.

He was arrest on Thursday by police in Gilgandra.

He was taken to Dubbo Police Station, where two warrants for his arrest were executed.
