Man doused with petrol and set alight

A MAN who was allegedly doused in petrol and set alight in the NSW Hunter region on the weekend is being treated for serious burns to 80% of his body.

Police believe a woman forced her way into a Maitland home and attacked the 32-year-old man before fleeing in the early hours of Saturday morning.

She had not been found on Sunday night.

The victim remained at Sydney's Royal North Shore hospital in a serious but stable condition.
