Bowles plays part in United form

DANIEL Bowles and his Gold Coast United side are hitting a purple patch in the National Youth League despite coming off a last-start loss to Perth.

Gold Coast take on Sydney FC on Saturday and they will be keen to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to the Glory last weekend.

Bowles' side has won three of its last four matches to move up the ladder after a slow start to the season.

The Toowoomba junior has been a big part of that run, with the defender scoring in the 3-2 win over Melbourne Heart before slotting a late 90th minute winner in Gold Coast's 2-1 success over Melbourne Victory after moving to the club from Brisbane in the off-season.

And while they are coming off a loss, Gold Coast coach Mike Mulvey is happy with the direction his team is heading.

"We've got a new squad and in recent weeks they have performed very well," Mulvey said on the Gold Coast website.

"The result (against Perth) didn't go our way but having seen what I've seen from our players recently, I can certainly declare that the future is bright."
