BETTY Boyce wanted to do something "a bit different" to celebrate her 90th birthday, so she decided to jump out of a plane.

The great-great grandmother from Maryborough took the leap of faith with Skydive Hervey Bay just after 9am on Monday.

Betty has lived a far from boring life; climbing Uluru and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and zip-lining from one side of a cruise ship to another for her 80th birthday.

To remember her 90th, Betty wanted to take her adrenaline rush to the next level.

"I've been wanting to do it for five years," Mrs Boyce said.

"Now I'm running out of ideas for things to do."

Betty's daughter Leanne said her mum was the bravest one in the plane on the way up there.

"There was a young German backpacker up there who was really nervous," Leanne said.

"So mum was telling him that there was nothing to be scared of the jump."

Betty said she was already planning her 100th birthday.

"I'm thinking about a hot air balloon or swimming with sharks, but that might be a bit tame," she said.

"I just want my kids to look back at my life and think 'mum did these things'."
