Winter may be right on our doorstep and you might think I'm silly to suggest a weekend in the south. Actually, for those of us who live in Queensland and northern New South Wales, visiting Tasmania in winter is quite an experience.

You get to rug up in front of a fireplace and breath crisp mountain air. In winter, the Tasmanian countryside has a special feel about it and there are plenty of cosy bed and breakfast places perfect for a romantic weekend away. 

The winter landscape in Tasmania is picturesque and moody. And there are plenty of festivals and events to keep you busy. Take off and explore. Here are my top five luxury country escapes in Tassie
