18-year-old third arrest in bashing

POLICE have released the name of a third person charged over the savage bashing of a man at Woolgoolga.

Eighteen-year-old Sean Gorman, of South Grafton, was released on bail on Wednesday after he was arrested earlier in the day.

A South Grafton man and a Victorian woman also appeared for a bail hearing in Grafton Local Court on Wednesday. They were Brendon Jeffery Benson, 38, of South Grafton, and Kristall Margaret Davies, 20, of Somerville, Victoria.

Police said that about 1.15am on Tuesday, a 41-year-old man was assaulted by three people, one armed with a metal picket, at the car park at Woolgoolga Headland.

The man suffered a fractured fibula or calf bone, serious lacerations and bruising. The trio left the scene in a car.

The man dragged himself back to his car and contacted emergency services. He was taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital where he underwent surgery.

About 11.15am Tuesday, police arrested Sean Gorman while he was driving in Clarence St, Grafton. Soon afterwards, police arrested Brendon Benson and Kristall Davies at a business in Grafton.

Magistrate Robyn Denes refused the pair bail and their cases have been adjourned to August 5 in Grafton.
