170 new cops on the beat - just not on ours

A TOTAL 170 new police officers have graduated from the police academy, but not one is headed for the Northern Rivers.

Police media has just released the postings for the latest batch of academy graduates and only two are headed for the Northern Region, which covers the area between Newcastle and the Queensland border, and neither will end up on the Far North Coast. The Northern Region allocation of new police officers is the smallest in the state.

One of the two Northern Region graduates has been assigned to Brisbane Water - the NSW Water Police base on the North Coast - and one is headed for the Central Hunter local area command.
