
17 great events coming soon to Lismore
SAVE the date - the next two months will see a packed calendar of events for Lismore, which will help bring visitors and more than $12 million in to the region.
Council and sporting events, music and performance shows and various cultural highlights will be happening across the city in June and July, bringing positive economic benefits to help Lismore on the road to recovery after the flood.
The Senior League Baseball Championships which started on Monday and the Little League Baseball Championships is a big draw card for sporting fans.
Senior League Baseball Championships Tournament Director, Michael Ibbotson said the Lismore facility is one of the best in the country and it has potential to become one of the best high performance event holding facilities in Australia.
The Senior League Baseball Championships is a five-day event with nine under 16s teams competing against one another, bringing around 350 visitors to Lismore and injecting more than $1 million into the Lismore economy.
Also among the events, the Little League Baseball Championships starting June 7, is an Under 13s comp with the winner representing Australia at the World Little League Series in USA.
More than 20 young teams will be competing, bringing upwards of 750 people and more than $2 million to Lismore.
"That's just the tip of the iceberg," Council's Tourism and Events Manager Mitch Lowe said.
"Over the next eight weeks we've got an action packed calendar, not only for the Lismore community to enjoy but the large influx of visitors is really going to help in our recovery economically."
Council events, music and performance shows and various cultural highlights will be happening across the city in June and July.
"The key focus of the Lismore events team over the next six to 12 months is to attract further events to Lismore, with a primary focus on bringing positive economic benefits to the city," Mr Lowe said.
