$115 million put toward crisis accommodation

CRISIS accommodation centres in Mackay, Rockhampton, Bundaberg and Toowoomba and domestic violence support in Coffs Harbour will be protected by a $115 million promise from the Federal Government.

Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews said the cash would ensure homelessness funding under a national agreement with states did not expire on June 30.

"On any given night, more than 105,000 Australians are homeless, so it's important for the government to provide assurance to the services supporting these people," he said.

The national agreement currently funds more than 180 services, including those operating through regional New South Wales and Queensland.
