A PUBLIC Information and Inquiry Centre has been set up to give information to communities affected by flooding and severe weather on the NSW north coast.
More than 300 properties are expected to become isolated on Thursday morning as the level of the Tweed River rises, and the weather bureau has issued a severe weather warning for the Northern Rivers, Northern Tablelands and Mid North Coast.
The NSW police emergency operations controller, Deputy Commissioner David Owens, says the information and inquiry centre can provide information about displaced families, road closures, welfare assistance and all other matters relating to the weather problems.
It can be contacted by telephone on (freecall) 1800 227 228.
Police say the inquiry hotline does not (not) replace the State Emergency Service emergency hotline.
People seeking emergency assistance during a flood or storm should still call the State Emergency Service on 132 500.
