Wright takes lead in Pro Junior

Owen Wright is in the box seat for the ASP Australasia Pro Junior to claim this year's title after a perfect start to the series.

Ballina Shire's Owen Wright jumped to an early lead in the ASP Australasia Pro Junior surfing competition with a perfect start to the series.

LOOKS like a Ballina Shire surfer may win the ASP Australasia Pro Junior championship two years running, with Owen Wright in the box seat to claim this year's title after a perfect start to the series.

Last year Stuart Kennedy bolted out of the blocks to lead from the start to claim the 2008 title, and now Owen is doing the same.

Wright posted his third straight Pro Junior victory at the Billabong Pro Junior Coffs Harbour on Sunday.

He was in sensational form throughout the event, obliterating the competition in the final with his 17.00 heat total (out of 20.00) which saw him defeat Garrett Parkes (Byron Bay), Perth Standlick (Bondi) and Davey Cathels (North Narrabeen).

Wright has won $17,000 in prizemoney so far this year.
