United to inspire women

WHAT inspires you?

For me, it's reading the timeless quotes and stories by some of literature's greats such as Mark Twain, Anne Bronte or Edgar Allan Poe.

Now there is a new motivational network in town that is committed to inspiring the women in the region - the Inspirational Business Women's Network Mackay.

It's the brainchild of Pauline Townsend and Bronwyn Armstrong and was launched early last month - and the two are passionate about their baby.

The duo came up with the concept over a cup of coffee in November last year and just went from there.

"We felt strongly about starting a business women's network in Mackay and we wanted to take it up to the next level."

Ms Townsend said their ethos was "empowering women to reach their potential".

The group comes together once a month to share ideas and provide collective support.

"We want to build sustainable relationships, motivate and inspire, encourage and mentor, create mutually beneficial alliances and connect like-minded business women," Ms Townsend said.

Women are a driving force within business, she said.

"Bronwyn and I could see a need. There are so many inspirational women out there in the workforce that are doing an amazing job," she said.

This is one of the things Ms Townsend said she found really inspiring.

There will also be a guest speaker at each meeting; some

one who has lived and learned and can share that experience with women in Mackay, she said.

Ms Townsend said each guest speaker would also host development workshops.

"I think the women of Mackay are looking for information ... and all of our speakers are coming from outside Mackay," she said.

The next event is being held on April 11. For more information phone Pauline Townsend on 0438 503 873.
