Stabbing accused refused bail

A WOMAN accused of stabbing her ex-boyfriend to death during Mother's Day celebrations in Sydney on the weekend has been refused bail.

About 9pm police were called to a Marrackville address where they found a 28-year-old man unconscious and bleeding.

Witness attempts to revive the man failed and he was taken to the Prince Alfred Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Superintendent Greg Peters said the man went to the home belonging to his ex-girlfriend's family and was allegedly stabbed several times during a "violent confrontation".

The 22-year-old woman, who had reportedly been in a relationship with the victim up until four months ago, was arrested and charged with murder.

She fronted a Newtown court on Monday.

Two men were also arrested, but Supt Peters said they were released "at this point" while investigations continued.

At the time of publication the victim's name had not been released.
