A COAST business has expanded its capabilities and is now among the biggest manufacturers of fire fighting equipment in Queensland.
Quik Corp in Warana purchased AAA Engineering Technologies, a specialist design and manufacturer of fire fighting vehicles and accessories near Toowoomba.
Specialists in the production of fire vehicles, AAA already holds a number of supply contracts in the resource sector.
Quik Corp managing director David Wardle said the expansion had already led to further employment opportunities in the manufacturing industry on the Coast.
"This expansion means we can invest further into our local community by building a skilled labour force and offer greater training in the industry," Mr Wardle said.
"This newly combined division of the business will have a major focus on supplying fire fighting equipment to the mining sector in Queensland and Australia."
Quik Corp was set up in 1990 and quickly established itself as the market leader in the agricultural market with the Quik Spray weed spraying system.
The company moved into the emergency services market five years ago, supplying fire authorities Australia-wide.
It recently won a contract to manufacture and supply 240 hose reels to the Country Fire Authority in Victoria.
Mr Wardle said the expansion was in line with the company's growth plans and the location of AAA was strategic to opportunities in Coal Seam Gas.
